Wanda, our first dachshund, comes from Shelley McGaugh’s Nouvelle Kennel and was originally intended as a fun little companion and scentwork partner. She quickly proved she was much more than that, finishing both her AKC Championship and Grand Championship with ease.
Wanda’s show career has been impressive. In June 2022 at the Greater Portland Dachshund Club Specialty, she earned Best in Sweeps Breed and Variety and went Winners Bitch the same weekend. Later that year, in September at the Richland Kennel Club Show, she finished her AKC Championship by going Best of Opposite Sex over several specials, beautifully handled by Christy Marley-Johnson.
Beyond the ring, Wanda is thriving in Scentwork, where she takes her job very seriously. She also enjoys FastCAT, Barn Hunt, and Rally. At home, she’s a better mouser than the cats, though nothing excites her more than chasing plastic bags through the field in FastCAT and CAT. In true dachshund fashion, her stubborn streak shows up sometimes in rally, but her enthusiasm and willingness to work always shine through.
Wanda also proudly holds the title of best bedwarmer and cuddler. She is continuing to work on her performance titles and is set to have her first litter in November 2025, passing on her exceptional structure, drive, and playful spirit.
